The mission was to deliver a 250-pound Elf from a top secret landing spot to the Town Centre for exactly 1800 hours on Nov. 25.
The Digby firefighters have performed this mission for decades now but this was the first year using their new Truck 5 pumper tanker.
Firefighters understand that Santa can’t arrive in just any truck and so they took great care to decorate Truck 5 with special Christmas lights and decorations fitting of their passenger.
Firefighters added two escort trucks as well and delivered the Jolly Elf right on time for the town’s Christmas Tree lighting. Firefighters also made sure Santa made it to the Heritage Centre in time for hot chocolate and cookies with the children before delivering him back to his sleigh and reindeer.
